100 things
100 things about me
- I married the love of my life. We’ve been married for almost 34 years and have gone through some pretty wonderful times and some very rough times, but we’re still here. He’s my best friend.
- I am a Christian. My faith is the base of my whole life, for all the things I’ve been through, there is no way I could have done it without having a relationship with Jesus and my heavenly Father to keep me anchored.
- I don’t like being the center of attention.
- Knitting has become therapy to me and I love it, even if I don’t often have FO to show, it’s more the process that is important to me.
- I like to laugh. Sometimes I think I don’t do it enough.
- I value my friendships. That is an understatement, but I don’t know how to say any more without writing a book.
- I love quiet. I don’t live with it so every time I get a chance, I grab it.
- My favorite part of my week is sitting with hubby at Barnes and Noble, reading a book and drinking coffee together. Love those quiet easy times together…we talk if we want but we don’t have to.
- My dream vacation is to go to New England in the Fall.
- I could drive across the country and still feel like I wanted to keep going. I felt that way after a car trip to Illinois so I assume I would still feel that way if I went clear to the other coast. I don’t like having to be there by a certain time, though.
- I collect tea pots but I hate tea.
- I don’t have an athletic bone in my body.
- I love old movies of the chick-flick variety. My kids tease me about always wanting to watch black and white.
- I’m going to be a grandma for the first time this August!!!!!
- I don’t like to drink water…a constant struggle.
- When I make a sandwich, I have to have everything spread to the edges and the crusts must line up. Don’t make me a hot dog on a piece of bread and fold the bread the wrong way.
- I love dark chocolate. I have gotten more picky about what chocolate I like as I get older, but I’ll eat almost any.
- I love, love, love my Starbucks coffee. I often just get decaf drip…and I love that at Barnes and Noble they will make me a fresh pot when I get there because they never have a pot of decaf in the evening.
- I am terrified of heights.
- My favorite getaway is in our friends’ RV but I don’t like camping in the wilderness, I have to be near civilization and good window shopping.
- I hate conflict. (But then, who does like it?)
- I’m very ticklish and get physically sick if someone tries to tickle me…it’s not one bit funny to me. It’s even very upsetting to me if someone pretends to tickle me.
- I love, love, love electronics…my laptop, my iPod, my Palm Pilot, my digital camera, my cell phone. I usually know the day my cell phone can be upgraded…and get to the store the day of or as close to it as I can.
- I feel things deeply. Sometimes this is good, sometimes not…I am kind of an all or nothing kind of person. I am a mercy person and have to work hard to not get caught in someone else’s problems but rather to be a help to them.
- I love the kind of friends that know when to cry with me and when to tell me the hard things I need to hear. Both things are appropriate at different times and I strive to be that kind of friend myself.
- When I got married, hubby was in a rock band and we used to travel around the northwest. It is funny to me to see people’s faces when I tell them that because our lives are nothing like that now.
- I love going to Mariner’s baseball games. I really, really, really love Stitch n Pitch (which originated with the Mariners, by the way!) Now how can you go wrong with knitting and baseball at one time?
- I like to stay up late at night, I hate mornings (although I love getting up when it’s still dark out and seeing daylight come. I’m just no good by about 9 am!)
- I think my kids are just about the best. They each are so unique and I love watching them grow and learn and become who they are meant to be. I feel the same way about my sons-in-law and my daughter-in-law-to-be (not official yet, but will be someday soon)
- I have vivid dreams and usually remember most of them…much to the dismay of my husband.

- Parties are very, very difficult for me and I feel really unnatural when talking to people I know when in that setting.
- I don’t like extreme temperatures.
- I have a hard time to see myself in a positive light so I am finding this list very difficult because I am trying to be more positive about myself.
- When my friends correct me, I may have a hard time hearing what they are saying to me, but it almost always will sink in and then I need to do something about it.
- I am a rule follower.
- I am a terrible liar and you can tell by looking at my face if I try to lie.
- On the other hand, I hate to hurt anyone’s feelings so this can be very difficult for me.
- I dislike “fake” in relationships.
- I ice skated in Central Park (New York City!) and it was one of my biggest accomplishments because I tried to not skate but a friend made me. I’m glad she did.
- I do not like to fly, I do not like big cities, I do not like being far away from my kids….so everyone I know was shocked when we were deeply moved to go to New York on a mission trip to help with the cleanup after 9-11. The kids were even more surprised when I called home from the top of the Empire State Building and was screaming into the phone, “You won’t believe how beautiful it is!” What they said to me was “What WE can’t believe is that you are UP there at all!” Loved it.
- My heart’s desire is to go back to New York.
- I saw the Beatles on August 25, 1966 in Seattle. Their last concert was August 30, 1966. My ticket cost $6. I can still remember what I wore.

- I am left-handed. The only things I can do right-handed are iron and knit.
- The first fish I ever caught was a baby shark. My grandma promised me that someday that pole would be mine and this year I got it.
- The year the Portland TrailBlazers won the world championship, hubby and I went to the airport after he got off work at 2am and waited until 6 am for them to arrive home from Philadelphia. We happened to be in the right place and shook hands with all of them. I loved Maurice Lucas and actually stood in line at Lloyd Center for hours to get his autograph.
- I blush easily because I embarrass easily.
- I’m a people watcher and I love to figure out what their lives are like.

- I do not like profanity.
- I have to eat Oreos the same way every time. Take it apart. Dip the side without the filling in milk, eat little bites. Then dip the other side in milk and repeat. Then go to the next cookie. I don’t get how people can eat the whole thing at once.
- I used to be the stilt champion in the neighborhood at my grandma’s house.
- I used to be the hula hoop champ in my own neighborhood.
- I used to have an inflatable hoop slip.
- When I got my one and only speeding ticket, I thanked the officer and went on. I was driving to see my then fiancé, now hubby, and it was a beautiful spring day and I was just happy. I still made the 3+ hour trip in a little more than 2 ½ hours.
- My friends used to call me Parnelli Jones. Now my kids think I drive like a grandma.
- I love Ravelry and spend too much time there. There is just so much information it’s hard to leave.
- High school was very painful for me.
- We have had 3 short-term exchange students from Japan. The first one became like a daughter to me and I am sad that we have kind of lost touch.
