I finally got back to my shawl last night at knit night. I know there was a simple mistake, but can I figure it out? I also had the wrong copy of my pattern…the one that had the highlighting tape on it so I know where I am. It wasn’t that hard to figure out the row and get myself started again. I found a teeny error and fixed that and then started knitting again. It is an easy knit and very possible to do while visiting. But..when I got to those stitches right before the center, one side is seriously lacking in stitches. The other side of the marker is fine. Everything was working until then. I’m not discouraged yet, but anyone who has walked this journey with me over the past few months know that I have crumbled and tossed these things to the side and moved on to something else. I just don’t want to do that again. I just want to stop myself from this craziness! I’m not that far into the shawl and everything has been easy to this point…and I don’t feel that frogging monster breathing down my neck but this is a bit of a mystery to me. I’ll fiddle with it for awhile but I think I had better not toss it to the side, at least not yet. lol.

I did knit some silly little socks similar to the ones Liz knit for someone so I could send them to my mother-in-law. Too bad Liz specified that they wouldn’t count for her sock-in-a-day party. I think mine aren’t as cute as hers, but I forgot to take a picture so you won’t be able to compare.

Today we had a family shower and it was really nice and cozy. Here are some of the pictures…just click to move to the next one.
The weekend was crazy. We enjoyed our little bit of quiet time when we got left off at the motel. We walked over to Ihop and ate breakfast for dinner, then had several hours to relax. I was so dead tired that I didn’t touch my knitting, but I did read a knitting book, so maybe that counts!
The graduation ceremony started at 10 a.m. and there were about 350 graduates. I couldn’t believe it when we got out of there at 1:18! The crush of people trying to leave was horrendous. We all went to Applebee’s for lunch, then to see the University before we headed to the mall and home. I have been playing the purchase/return/purchase game. I have one more thing to take back. Somehow I feel like I’m expanding my wardrobe anyway, but it has been so much work! None of the stores I’ve purchased from are close to home so every time we get up that way, I have things to run into the mall when we’re flying by to some other event.
I’m still trying to dig out my stuff from the mess the dear boy created. I just haven’t had the heart or ambition (or time) to really attack it.
We got home late last night. We were bulletin servers at church this morning and then came home for a short time before we headed to the shower. Now I am home with my feet kicked up and too lazy to go see if I can get a cute picture of a mischevious boy.
Hopefully knitting content to come!

There has been so much going on here, but I have been able to get a little bit of knitting done. I’m using Meditation from Skacel…and it is lavender scented! I am surprised how much I like knitting with this yarn. The scent is pleasant, not over-powering.

I don’t know why it’s a little distorted. Big son was trying to hold the branch down so I could put it on it and the dog started running off with the yarn wrapped on his tail while the one daughter was telling the other daughter that I couldn’t take the phone because I was trying to take a picture of my scarf hanging in the tree. They don’t get it.
We get to get away a little bit this weekend, our future son-in-law is graduating from college this Saturday so we’re going to get a room so we don’t have to get up at 3 a.m. to get there. I plan to take books to read and my shawl to work on and hubby and I will get a pleasant quiet time while our daughter goes to some open house with him. We will feel like kids getting dumped off on the way somewhere!
Maybe Saturday there will be some time to find a yarn store or two but I’m not going to count on it. We’ll go out to eat with his parents afterwards and then do something fun just the two of us.
I will leave you with this….

Does this look like the face of an innocent boy? Well, don’t let it fool you. Evidently yesterday, he decided we all needed to move our bedrooms. He moved my husband’s clothes (a LOT of them) to his room and heaped them at the foot of his bed. Then he took my clothes and dumped them into his sister’s room. Then he took her clothes and put them in our room and took all of his clothes (which we keep downstairs) up to our room and piled them all over the place. He was excited that he and big sis could now share a room! I am not even going to ask why he managed to get that much stuff moved without anyone noticing. The thing I have to remember is that he is capable of doing massive damage of this kind in a very short time. His favorite show used to be Trading Spaces because he loved how they would speed up the moving out process. That’s how he operates! Oh gosh, as I told some friends today….when hubby came downstairs and told me last night, I started to giggle that terrible giggle that says this is not funny but I don’t know what else to do. And Dad? A more even-tempered man would be hard to find, but he was NOT happy.
We both know, though, that when we see that smiling face in the morning and late at night, it’s all worth it.
ps: he is NOT sleeping and he is certainly not innocent!!!
