monkey off my back ~

A few months ago, my niece asked each family member to make a quilt block for her daughter’s first birthday. I was just getting caught up in wedding plans and told her there was no way I could get it done before the wedding. She said she really didn’t need them until early August. For the last few weeks, it has been eating on me. The worst part of it for me is coming up with an idea. We each have a square piece of cotton, mine is pink. Last week, I thought maybe I’d knit a sock shape or a sweater shape and sew it to the square, but it just wasn’t clicking. Yesterday, Lauri suggested just doing a square. Bingo.

The lighting isn’t great and it is not really blocked yet. Tomorrow I will attach it to the cotton square and try to write our name on the cotton. (gosh those pens are expensive, I hope it works!)
What do I really want to be doing? Knitting a sock using Cat Bordhi’s new pathways method. Tomorrow I will do that since I only have one day before the new clue comes out for the stole.
I had to share this little picture. Melissa sent the dear boy a belated birthday card.

Thanks, Melissa…he loved it!
And while I’m at it, we just got the pics from the photographer. The kids bought the digital rights. There are over 700 to sort through..and their album is just beautiful. We have this skinny little white book…they have this huge black incredibly laid out album…and then this disk with tons more pics.
How could you not smile at these?

He’s on his way to get me after walking the grandmas down the aisle. Someone right in this area got his attention every single time.
And his favorite food in all the world? Vanilla ice cream!

And the moment that brought the big gasp ~ the bride and her daddy. (imagine the sound those huge doors made when they were opening!)

And now I am going to steal a few minutes of knitting before I go to bed!

Looks like a great wedding. Your Stole is BEAUTIFUL! I gave up on mine because of the concentration/time commitment, so MAJOR kudos to you for keeping up with it. I think your result will definitely be worth it!

That square is great, what a lucky kid. Glad to see more wedding pics, but is there somewhere we can go to see them full size? I wanna zoom in!
