a luncheon, shopping, and a tree

Last Saturday, we had a ladies luncheon at church. Each table was decorated and hosted by different people. This time I did a table with a friend. It was a fun day.
I am waiting for my pictures to get to my email from my cell phone. My real camera was acting up that day, much to my dismay.
Ok….I waited forever and the pictures never arrived in my email. Every time I try to use my cell phone, I cannot figure out how to get the pictures to my computer but after doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result (the definition of insanity! lol), it finally worked.
Here is a glimpse of our table….
The dishes belong to my friend. The birds belong to another friend. The ice skater is mine. Also..I got some vintage reproduction children’s Christmas hankies on eBay as part of my contribution. I forgot to take pictures of them but I had one extra that I gave to little miss Mayah for her first Christmas.
This was my place at the table. Aren’t the dishes beautiful?
The weekend was emotional for me and I was very touched by the woman who spoke. Her story was so much like ours but very different at the same time. The day before, some of my painful memories had opened up and then when she spoke, my emotions were already on the surface. I’m really glad I went, but I was emotionally drained when I came home. I actually feel gratitude now, but it’s hard to sit nicely when you feel like sobbing.
All is well now.
The rest of the weekend was extremely busy as is the one to come.
Yesterday, we had therapy. My dear Rebecca was so kind to videotape me as the therapist did something she’s never done before. She made me get on the floor and do a workout with Tyler. Gosh, how embarrassing to be so out of shape. Too bad we can’t use the video because I have told the therapist I won’t show her on here. lol…sorry, you don’t get to see.
We did stop at Target and Tyler did his very favorite thing.
Shopping for dvds! He wanted to buy a Chronicles of Narnia dvd for Ben. I asked him if he had any money for it. He said, “Don’t worry, Mom. It’s a present.” He was not thrilled to put it back.
Tonight was knit night with friends and when I got home, I was so thrilled to find Kenny had put up our tree!
The only thing on it is the new garland I bought. This doesn’t show it well, but it is sparkly and I was ready for some bling on the tree after years of red wooden beads.
Here is the big thing. Every year, we go through this huge ordeal of moving the tv and armoire. Kenny has to go downstairs and re-run the cable. We have to move all the furniture but it doesn’t really work, everything is too crowded. Tyler hates change. Every Thanksgiving, he tells us where everything will go.
Tonight, Kenny asked him if it was ok to put the tree in the dining room (which is not a dining room). “Sure, Dad.” It works. Yea!!!
I have to tell you about last night. I woke up at 3:30 in a panic. I was frantically searching in our bed and Kenny asked what was wrong. “Where is she?” I said. “What did you do with her?” He asked who…and I said, “Mayah! Where is she?” “At Rhianna’s, she has her at her house.” I asked him why????
Good grief. I used to do that when I was nursing my tiny babies and would be so exhausted but what in the world did I think she should be at our house in the middle of the night for? And why NOT with Rhianna? lol
Sad thing is, Kenny didn’t sleep for the rest of the night.

What a beautiful table setting!
Sounds like it’s time to take a moment or two for yourself whenever you can, lady! Tis the season to get burned out quickly.

Very pretty table… and can you ask Tyler if I’m understanding right… presents don’t cost money?? Because I could really do some shopping, then.

Aren’t those middle-of-the-night panic attacks WAY too real?!?

What a beautiful table setting! Everything looks just perfect. Don’t you just love to do that kind of thing? And your tree looks like it is going to be really pretty. You will have to post more pics when you get it finished.
. We could knit and go window shopping.
I agree it sounds like you need some down time. You could come to OK and visit me
Tyler needs to show me how to do that shopping with no money thing.

The table is gorgeous!
I remember waking up at night frantically looking for my babies in bed when I was nursing. They were always sleeping like angels in their bassinet. Sleep deprivation. lol.
