Ok, not the best quality, but I’m learning. Here’s our trip, literally over the river and through the woods….we went to visit the grandparents. I have another I’d like to add but it takes half the day to upload on the connection we’ve got here.

We also got a little bit of the first birthday party! One of these days I’ll learn not to use the same music. lol

This month has been craziness!

Last week we celebrated Missy Mayah’s first birthday. A year of grandparenthood…..a good thing! There is really nothing like it.

I’m writing this as we are in transit so don’t have access to my pictures until we get hooked up. It was a fun time had by all. She really wasn’t thrilled when it came to the cake part but her daddy worked with her a little and she came around!

I finished her little sweater, it’s too big right now but that’s a good thing. I forgot to take pictures and then when I had both the sweater and the little miss back in my presence, she was wearing her tutu that Rebecca made for her. lol

We then headed south to Kenny’s class reunion. I had planned on going to the evening event but we had found out that there would be a tour of the high school and then he’d go on to the evening event. It seemed too long to leave Tyler in his parent’s care since he’s in his not-answering stage and we didn’t want to cause them to have a stressful evening. I’m sad in a way, but I’m also thinking it was good for Kenny to get to visit with friends and not feel chained to me. I get really shy in social events like this, especially when I don’t know many people.

Tyler and i got to go to dinner, though, with Grandma and Grandpa and I always enjoy spending time with them.

Yesterday was the picnic with his classmates. One of them owns a piece of property that is just perfect for a big event. It’s right across the street from the ocean, but you drive down a little lane and when you park and walk into the clearing, here is this beautiful setting, surrounded by trees. We had a good time. Kenny’s parents came, too. How cool is this that they were the only parents there and before they got there at least a dozen people asked when they were coming!

I found someone to sit with and we enjoyed watching the classmates visit. I like seeing Kenny in his roots.

There is another family who has a son with down syndrome, she and I have talked over the years. Tyler and he had a GREAT time playing together and one of the spouses took time to play frisbee with them for a looooong time.

All in all, we got too much sun, had a good time and came home tired.

Before we left his parents’ home, we watched a dvd featuring the fire department my father-in-law has been part of for over 40 years. (do you recall that they named his station after him last year?) I was very touched by it, especially the feature story on their department visiting their sister station in New York City. We were all pretty full of emotion. He gave me the dvd and I will watch it. Since we, too, were involved in caring for people in NYC after September 11, it’s very close to our hearts.

And now we head to our next adventure. We’re just going to the same park we often go to on the coast. When Kenny called to see if they had any openings, they booked us and said, “Tyler stays for free.” The goodness of others is so touching, especially as we are adjusting to this new phase of our lives. It struck us a bit weird that at our age, we sometimes miss out on things because child-care is not always easy. :)

Tomorrow, or soon, I will put some videos on from my new Flip video….pretty cool!
