does anyone even remember me?

Posted by sherriknits

Wow, I have really taken vacation from blogging. So long that I couldn’t even remember the name of the app that I use to blog with. Bad!

I’ve been thinking a LOT about blogging this month. Last year I did the 31 for 21 during October. I would like to remind you that October is Down Syndrome Awareness month and there are many families blogging every day during the month to bring awareness. I really enjoyed it last year, this year I just wasn’t up to it. I think this year, I am SO aware of life with DS that i didn’t feel like writing about it. It’s not bad, it’s just been a transition that is a little harder than I expected, and yet not so much.

Just a little reminder, we had 3 weddings in 3 years…all the siblings are now out of the nest and starting their own little families. This leaves Tyler, Kenny and I here. I can’t seem to get it that I need to find babysitters for my 16 year old son on a regular basis. We’ve had way more events than normal and our kids are so incredibly wonderful to help us out….but I fear we are taxing them all. I know they love their brother, that’s not the point. I am trying to learn to plan ahead but I’m not doing so great with that.

My kids have now set me up with Google calendar and we are going to try to keep track of our schedules on that, I had my first lesson today and I did try to go in and add all the regular events that I have every month. I really am going to try to make this work.

I have a very good friend who has a son with autism and we are leaning pretty heavily on each other these days. She knows her girls are leaving the nest soon and she will be where we are probably next year.

Is it all bad? No. Absolutely not. It’s just an adjustment and I guess it is taxing every thing I have and therefore, I am not keeping up with things like this. I spend time on Facebook chatting w/my friend about our days and encouraging each other, which is good, has been very helpful to me.

Ok, I had been away from this for so long I couldn’t even find the cord to my camera! I finally dug it out of my macbook case, which is exactly where it should have been.

I’ll give a very brief synopsis of where I’ve been since I was last here…..

We got to go to Fan Appreciation night for the beloved Mariners. It was such a welcome invitation. We lost the game but had a ball. It started raining and for the first time ever, I got to see the roof retract.

Here’s the team, they came out to thank the fans, I loved it. There were so many fun things to do.

The stadium was packed after the game got going and we had a wave start that went around 8 or 9 times, we lost track. And guess who went with me?

He had fun too, but he got kind of tired so had to take a rest.

Dino was a good sport. lol

Becky and I had so much fun taking pictures of Ribbit….and the people sitting around us in the background but I don’t think I should show some of it…altho I really loved watching the people and how much fun they were having….I’m talking about the diehard season ticket holders who seriously keep track of every play. They were fun. They gave away tons of incredible prizes and two different people close to us got jerseys. To me, the gift of being there was enough.

Thanks, Dino and Becky, for such a fun night.

Kenny and I got to go to a conference for church. It was fun and we got to the hotel at 3, didn’t need to be to the conference until 6:30 so we had a nice rest….we had a canopy bed that I needed steps to get up into. Now what’s funny is that the room was so small and furniture so big that we could barely get around. We had fun, though. On the 2nd day of the conference, we had to check out of our hotel before we went and then we had a 7 hour break. We drove to Seattle and walked through a mall but we were so tired we went back to where we were and actually looked for a movie to go to so we could take a nap (yes, kind of expensive) but found nothing we wanted to see so we did something crazy. We went to Target and parked in the far end of the parking lot and took a nap there! I slept hard! I also felt very refreshed when I woke up.

Let’s see, what else have we been up to.

Oh yeah, we went to therapy last Monday and the leaves were incredibly beautiful. I tried to take pictures as we drove but in the car it’s too hard to get anything decent.

You get the idea tho.

The delay on the digital camera made me miss the best spot but the capitol is so beautiful right now in the midst of all the trees!

For the first time ever, we had our appointment at 9:30. Well, of all days…Rhianna had her ultrasound scheduled for 3, which would have worked perfectly if we’d gone at our regular time. They needed someone to watch Miss Mayah while they went in because no kids are allowed. So, we had to stay in Olympia for all that time. We spent time at Barnes and Noble, we went to see “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” for Tyler’s sake and then we met up with them. Ok, now what to do? We ended up going to Fred Meyer and sitting in their snack bar

I hope that sign means something nice. I have never seen him do that before….and excuse the silly look on his face.

And the silly girl.

Don’t you love how Ribbit seems to show up everywhere?

The new little sweet pea didn’t cooperate for the ultrasound so they never got a profile shot. They did get some cute pictures, though. The kids never have wanted to find out what baby is so that part didn’t upset them.

Other than this, we’ve had meetings and meetings and we’ve been having big excitement in the neighborhood with some break-ins that they think have been resolved. Craziness. I’m doing an incredibly wonderful Bible study on the book of Esther…it’s so good. Beth Moore is the teacher and I am learning soooooo much and healing much from things in the past. Amazing. I mean, jaw-droppingly incredible!

Everyone is happy and well and life is good and I’m learning to use Google calendar! lol

I’ll try not to take such a long break again any time soon, but thankfully have learned my limits and am working at reducing stress and enjoying life. :)

ps I think I have the best kids in the world, all 7 of them!!!!
