storm update

Posted by sherriknits

hours ago during the news, they reported gusts up to 63 mph here…..that was before it started feeling really wild. Kyle just came here to get our generator, power is out all over town but we still have it. He and Kenny are getting the generator from Kenny’s work…not thrilled. our power has blipped a few times but we’re still watching tv and trying to relax. Not loving it!

let the storms begin

Posted by sherriknits

Storm season has begun. Last night we were told we’re going to have a series of storms….I decided to charge up everything, my camera, macbook, phones. Kenny went to the store and if you can believe it, Walmart was out of batteries! He did manage to find them at RiteAid. He stocked up and we’re ready…he checked the generator, it works. I did laundry and made sure I ran the dishwasher.

The storm didn’t seem to hit until late into the night even though my friend a the beach said they had it all day. That’s about 23 miles from here. I got up at 5 because I couldn’t stand the wind hitting the window. I used to enjoy it until the Dec. 07 storm when we had sustained hurricane force winds for 36 hours.

Here’s the good one, I can’t figure out where I put my camera after I took the battery out to charge it! I tried and tried to get video this morning instead but every time I’ve gone out (in bare feet and sweats!) the wind has died down a little. Right now, our rocking chair on the porch keeps looking like it is going to flip over onto it’s back but I have no proof of it.

Here’s what I did manage to get, which is nothing.

Tonight we are supposed to get up to 85 mph winds and lots and lots and lots of rain.

It’s only 9 am and I’m ready for a nap!

rain, rain, rain

Winter has come. It’s kind of nice to be inside, warm and dry.

I’ve been doing a teeny bit of knitting.

These are so quick and easy.

I knit them for a shower gift. After the first pair, you barely need the pattern.

Funny thing, though. These are booties number 4 & 5! I knit one that was way too small. Then I knit a pair that weren’t even close to the same size (in the same sitting!!! how in the world?) I just decided to switch yarn and go for it again and they just knit up fast and easy and perfect.

I’m working on a sweater for our new baby but all it is is rectangles right now. Pictures when it’s enough to show.

Other than this, nothing exciting is happening to write about. Rebecca, Tyler and I drove up to Olympia for Tyler’s therapy yesterday. It was crazy weather….wind and rain, sometimes coming down so hard we couldn’t see a thing and then sunny and blinding wet pavement. Such is winder in the Pacific Northwest! :)

Tyler was somewhat uncooperative during therapy, he likes things to be his idea and wasn’t at all thrilled about writing and money. We bought him a calendar (High School Musical, of course) and are going to work on scheduling. He did love going for pizza afterwards, though. All in all, it was a fun day. I love spending time with my kids that way!

Well, dinner is on and I should try to accomplish something in the day. I’m watching kind of a scary movie, something I never do….old old old movie and the acting is bad…

I’m trying not to take such long breaks in blogging, Rebecca and I were both talking about missing it yesterday. Soon…

an impromptu dinner date

Posted by sherriknits

The other night Kenny came home and said let’s drive to Olympia and have dinner at Red Robin. He never has a chance to not be at worship practice but this week he took the week off. It was a dark stormy night and it was the perfect thing to do. We’ve never ever seen the red robin at Red Robin!

But here he comes!

And then to add to it, Tyler was very sociable so ti was twice as fun!

Whenever he poses, he always puts his hand on his hip.

It was a good night and we got home in time for my favorite tv show, practically the only one I actually watch. :)

We’re getting used to dates as the 3 of us and it’s good to have fun together. We also took him out on Saturday night so it was quite the week for the boy.
