no therapy

Posted by sherriknits

It’s funny how uploading my pictures from my camera shows me I really did have “something” going on the last few days.

First of all, one of my friends has been working on a beautiful sweater for Mayah for months.  She designed the entire thing as she went along.  I got to witness much of the  figuring and adjusting so I asked her if she could copy her notes and give them along with the gift.

This picture is totally goofy but the sweater and hat are beyond wonderful!

What a treasure!

Friday night, date night, we ran into the little family at Barnes and Noble.

IMG_4326

She wasn’t this nice when I had her. I took her for a walk and tried to discuss books with her but she was not into it.  lol  The whole store knew it.

Today we drove to Olympia for therapy.  On the way, Tyler started blowing bubbles with his nose.  It got worse and worse so I called the therapist while we were at Red Robin and she said not to come. She works with medically fragile children and doesn’t need him touching everything there.  I always appreciate when people do that for us, too.

Lunch was fun, though.

Regarding the little stubborn streak yesterday, there’s a bit more of the story.

Recall the stubborn fellow standing in the aisle holding his head.  Now picture Dad, a brother and a sister all watching from the platform as they all were doing worship.  They can do nothing but watch and hope I don’t get into a wrestling match.  Rebecca said that she was wishing it wouldn’t be really inappropriate to get out her camera and take pictures from their viewpoint.  Everyone noticed that when requested to get in one section, he obviously went through some pretty intense reactions.  That was totally against his idea of how it all needed to be.  lol

When we left home today, Tyler made it clear that he was still not with me.  He told Rebecca when she got in the car that they were partners. (whatever that means)

This is a look I am used to:

IMG_4334

I still love that face but ugh.

Then we had another challenge.  After we ate, he had wiped his nose all over his face so we had to go in the bathroom and wash it off.  Rebecca told him it was “her” idea so he would not cause a scene but we go through this every time when we go there…he stops abruptly and says….it’s the girl’s room.  It breaks my heart.  Sometimes he just has to go in with us.  Becca was assuring him that it was ok, it was her idea as we shove him through the door.

I thought this was cute.

IMG_4335

Trying to get the towels out of the dispenser.

After this, we went to Target and he did dart into the men’s room there as he told Rebecca…”you’re a girl, I’m a boy!” and off he went.

We had a great day…went shopping at Barnes and Noble and I bought Rebecca a book.  Then we went to 2 fabric stores and got some fun ideas.  She is learning to sew and bought a sewing machine.  I’m so excited for her to learn.

We got home early, which was nice.  I laughed at Tyler when I looked in the backseat after we dropped off Rebecca…he was ready to get home.

IMG_4337

(he got a new book, too….High School Musical)

I just love this tree….it’s losing it’s leaves now.

IMG_4338

Pray for a windstorm so the leaves head off down the street, we almost never end up getting them and I love that they get evenly dispersed far, far away.  :)

31 for 21 ~ the hazards of living with a song sheet collector

Posted by sherriknits

This is probably going to be long just because I haven’t posted any current pictures.

I got a visit last week from a little black kitty.

IMG_4194

Can’t get any cuter than that!

IMG_4202

The next afternoon, got a visit from two cuties.  Uncle Tyler was helping guard little miss Sweet Pea in her new Bumbo chair.  She has on a onsie that belonged to her mommy.

That night, she and mom went on a date night with us since her daddy was out of town.

IMG_4205

That was fun!

Yesterday at church, we had a little handknit girl.  The first picture I took was really better but silly me had it on video rather than still so we have to settle for the lesser of the two pictures.

IMG_4208

The sweater came from Hasbu, isn’t it cute!  The leggings were knit by a blogless knitting friend, Amber.  I LOVED them both on her!  She was so snuggy warm and was quite the hit!

However, I digress.  Are you wondering about the title?  Well, I have mentioned several times about the current obsession of collecting song sheets of the worship songs.

This morning, we had to get up early to head up to Olympia for therapy.  I was not fully awake and I was trying to step over a pile of hot wheels surrounded by song sheets.  I have no idea what happened but the next thing I knew, I was on the floor with my leg twisted behind me.  I’m thinking my foot must have slipped out from under me, but honestly…I could not even figure it out.

IMG_4253

Now, I know it could have been a lot worse, but let me tell you..this HURT!  My knee is also skinned and I spent the rest of the day hobbling around.  Stairs are not fun and I found out I cannot lead down the stairs with my right foot, the injury was on my left.

Hubby was waking up Tyler and thought the dog fell off the bed until he was coming down the stairs and heard me crying.  lol

We had two appointments today and got to go for lunch in between.

IMG_4249

That’s Red Robin up there behind the trees.  It was a beautiful day today.

IMG_4224

It was a fun lunch!

The drive to therapy was so beautiful.

IMG_4246

We haven’t been to therapy since early summer so it was all fun and new again.

We went outside a little bit, too.

Tonight I had a meeting at the church and I just thought it was so beautiful outside I needed to take a picture. The tree in the lower right is really meaningful to us, it was planted in honor of a pastor who passed away about 10 years ago.

IMG_4251

It was a horribly busy day, so much for a day off! I got to leave my meeting early or this would have been a very short post.

And now I am going to kick up my feet and rest.  :)

church picnic

Posted by sherriknits

We had a great time today at our church picnic.  The food was great and the games were fun.  One of our friends was so kind to run the 3-legged race with the little imp.

IMG_3756

Dad was running along trying to coach but not sure it helped.

IMG_3758

Here’s what they resorted to…

entertaining to say the least.

The new daddy didn’t want to miss the Seahawks game.

IMG_3766

My new friend.

Grampy and Sweet Pea talking to each other.  She likes to stand on your stomach.

IMG_3763

Just hanging out…

IMG_3760

This was the safe spot.  People were getting water dumped on them and the only safe place was by the baby and that is why we had a crowd.

IMG_3768

No words needed…

IMG_3770

This one, too….

I love this picture!  our pastor and the little imp were having fun together.  He really likes spending time with the pastor because he treats him like everyone else.100_0858

And briefly in other news…IMG_3732

Here’s Sweet Pea the other day in her Sweet Pea onesie I got her and her little khaki skirt.  Does it get any cuter than this?

A few days ago, I showed the afghan a group of us made.  It’s all sewn together now and we’ve started the border.

Happy anniversary to us….

Posted by sherriknits

We’re celebrating our 34th anniversary this year and we’re having a quiet little get away.  No, we’re not spending a lot of time on our laptops.  :)

We just tried to go to Fred Meyer but the bridge was just closing so we’d have had to go way around on a detour so we decided to skip it.  Instead we went for a great walk.  The whole time is all about quiet.  We must be getting old.  lol

First I want to show some pictures from yesterday.  We had our annual art walk and a friend of mine and I got a chance to sit outside in the sunshine.  She did some spinning and I did a little bit of knitting and we got to talk to people about what she was doing.  An interesting thing we noted…..the women were definitely interested in the spinning, but the men really woke up when she started explaining the mechanics of the wheel.  I have to say I am so impressed with my friend’s ability to spin.  She taught herself and she makes beautiful yarn.

IMG_3198

It was fun.

Here’s an attempt at a closeup of her working.  The sun was so bright I had no idea on any of them if I even got her in the picture!

IMG_3199

And now to us.

For my gift to hubby, I offered to pay for a little getaway to Astoria, Oregon.  We did the Priceline thing and I was really hoping we’d get the place we got.  We are right on a marina overlooking the boats and it is so peaceful and beautiful.

IMG_3200

The bridge in the  background is 4 miles long.  It only rises at the end on the Oregon side.  It was so weird, we were about halfway across and a car went speeding past us (2 lane bridge) and then we came to a complete halt.  We have no idea what was going on but after about 3 minutes the traffic started back up and off we went.  In this day and age, I am not fond of sitting on a bridge and not sure what the problem is.  Well, to be honest, I don’t think there was ever a day I liked having to sit on a bridge.  haha

IMG_3201

This is looking towards the great Columbia River.

IMG_3202

The hotel is L-shaped so that is part of the other side.

IMG_3205

In the distance is a ship coming in.  This is not an unusual sight to us because we see them all the time at home but we love watching them.

Oh my gosh.  Remember me saying how hard it is for me to drink water?  Well, look what I found at Fred Meyer!

IMG_3204

I love Metromint water!  I often drink The spearmint, peppermint and when I can find it the orangemint….but tonight I found CHOCOLATEMINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  And not only did I find it…..it was 10 for $10!!!!  This water is expensive and often I will continue to use the bottle because some of the mint flavor stays in it.  When I saw this, I bought one, went outside and opened it, took a drink to make sure I liked it (of course I did!) and then went back in and bought 10 of them!  I’m one happy girl!

We are the very worst people I know when it comes to making a decision where to eat.  Neither one of us can ever decide.  We didn’t want to go to the same places we’ve gone before so we went downtown, parked the car and walked along the river.  They have fixed it up so quaint….we really enjoyed the stroll.  I left my camera at the room so I tried to take a few pictures with my phone.  Always fun trying to figure out how to get them to my computer!

296862295_1008590158_0

I took this picture because when hubby was a little boy, he got to steer a ferry across the Columbia.  These are old pilings from docks of old.  In the distance is Washington.  I love hearing about him steering that ferry so I wanted to take a picture even though this isn’t likely the exact spot the ferry went from.

We did find a new place to eat and we sat inside because we weren’t really dressed to sit outside near the water but we did get a window.  We watched a ship heading out.

Here is the beginning of sunset.

IMG_3206

I wanted to hurry when we were going to go to the store so I wouldn’t miss it, I love sunsets.  We were only gone less than 5 minutes because of the bridge but this was the prettiest it ever got.  The clouds started pushing in and the sky turned whiter.

Here was a little seagull passing by our balcony.

IMG_3208

And from our little walk on the docks….

IMG_3209

Can you just feel the peace?

IMG_3210

And now I am off.

Yea us!
